A great passion for total design, materials and experimentation has induced Alessandra Calvani, a Roman architect, to make beautiful and unique jewellery.

Alessandra loves to use in her creations completely different materials mixed together; each one is used for a particular reason: “I choose laser cut metacrylates,” she says, “because I love the industrial production. I favour woods because they remind me of the perfumes of Nature, and finally I go crazy for burnished silver because of the special light it gives to a woman's face".

All of her jewellery combines architecture, design and fashion, and are characterised by an extreme definition of their lines and by a precise geometrical study.

All her work has given life to six different jewellery lines; each one strongly characterised by the use of particular materials and shapes.

There’s the “Origini” line whose key elements are the square forms made in paduk ebony and metallic threads that form necklaces, rings and earrings. The “Auram” line borrows tribal and ethnic tastes, and made using tubular copper and silver that favour the décolleté curved lines. The “Andromeda” line is characterised by the use of plates of glazed and burnished silver that can be transformed into pendants and rings. The “Frame” line demonstrates the use of Plexiglas squares and reindeer bands that are real bijoux to wear around one's neck and waist. The “Bronzo” line includes sculptural pendants tied up with organdie silk laces, and finally the “Acqua” line is characterised by Plexiglas transparent parallelepipeds and silver spheres that design essential geometrical forms without any redundancy.

 

Those who love the minimalist design will surely appreciate Alessandra’s jewellery. After seeing them all, I’ve personally been amazed by Andromeda rings, by their rigor, their elegance and their apparent simplicity, but above all I’ve been struck by Alessandra and her creative talent and passion which lights her eyes and face.
